Xiaomi Mi9 SE Review
Even Xiaomi has a smaller version of “and” cheaper “MI9. It is called Xiaomi Mi9 SE. Although it has not yet been officially listed in Italy, it will arrive soon, just like all the globals we have tested so far. Like a smartphone.
The smartphone’s package includes USB / USB-C cable, 12V / 1.5A power supply, USB-C to 3.5mm audio adapter and translucent silicone cover
Now that we are used to getting bigger and bigger smartphones, there is no doubt that this Mi9 SE looks almost compact and compact. According to current standards. It is well constructed due to the combination of metal (on the profile) and glass (on the back). The design is clean and elegant, occupying many aspects of the Mi9, making it a close relative. In the hands of the complex, it works very well, quite light, 155 grams.
Unfortunately, it does not provide any level of waterproof or dustproof performance. It’s too bad for the camera’s projection, and it’s a bit annoying when using a smartphone on the desk.
The hardware of this SE variant is very interesting. We have a 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 712 octa-core processor with an Adreno 616 GPU and 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Even the internal memory is very fast. It is actually implemented using UFS 2.1 technology, which unfortunately has 64 and 128 GB cuts, just like in the case of a brother, it is not expandable. Very good connectivity: up to 800 Mbps LTE (with 20 bands), Wi-Fi actual band, Bluetooth 5.0 or even NFC. However, in the smartphone’s profile, we couldn’t find the 3.5mm audio jack, which inherited the ugly absence of Mi9. The infrared port is present. The pull-out cart accommodates two nanoSIMs, as does the millet tradition. The fingerprint reader is located below the display and is optical: once the impression is recognized, it is fast, but not very accurate in the detection. Fast and accurate 2D unlocking (not safe) through face recognition. The sound provided by the lower mono speaker is discreet.
The Xiaomi Mi9 SE has the same main camera as the Mi9. We are talking about 4.8 megapixels 1.8 / 1.8, equipped with a 13 megapixel 2.4 / 2.4 super wide-angle sensor and an 8-megapixel ƒ / 2.4 2x zoom camera. This is a very interesting triptych that protects itself even if it doesn’t reach the level of high-end smartphone photos, especially in the mid-range range. The quality of the photos is good, and the involvement of artificial intelligence and automatic HDR helps create particularly enjoyable images. You can of course always deactivate these options, and in this case, only, you can choose to shoot at full resolution instead of 12 megapixels. Ok, always consider their possibilities, even with two extra cameras and even portrait mode shots. Too bad, there are two separate keys to activate zoom and wide angle, which is a solution we don’t particularly like. But this is only a small detail. Nice video (can record in 4K and full HD at 60 fps). Good photo with 2.0-megapixel front camera 2.0 / 2.0. In addition to the Make-up mode, you can also shoot in portrait mode (although there is only one camera).
There is definitely a point in favor of this device is its 5.97” AMOLED FullHD + display (1080 x 2340 pixels). It is a “classic” display, so it won’t bend on the side, only by integrating the top camera into a small recess The slot is interrupted. After “Software Care”, the perfectionist will notice the softer rounded corners of other devices in the OnePlus 6T or Mi9 style. The screen is bright and bright. The automatic brightness adjustment is very good. There is also one Spectacular always online but unfortunately does not include notifications received. You can activate the reactivation of the display when you double or double click, and activate the read mode. In all of these, the Mi9 SE display does not lose support for the HDR standard…
At the moment we wrote this review, Xiaomi Mi9 SE has not yet been officially sold in our country, but there are other reliable stores responsible for bringing global variants to Italy, which is what you will find (finally) on the shelves. Let’s talk about the MIUI 10.2 smartphone based on the Android 9.0 Pie with February 2019 patch. All of them are of course Italian, and the Play Store has no problem reporting notifications, if not the “ugly” notifications that disappear from the top bar, unfortunately, introduced in the latest version of MIUI. It seems that in the future they will be able to revert to the permanence of the past, but there is currently no stable MIUI to achieve this novelty.
Among the most interesting features, we highlight the dark mode, the second space, the cloned app, and the most important navigation gestures, every time the best in the Android smartphone. The speed and fluidity of the entire system are as fast as other interfaces.
